Brechin City’s Player of the Month for August Craig Johnston says the side just have to stick together in the search for their first points.

Craig was a substitute in Saturday’s 2-0 loss to derby rivals Forfar Athletic, but came on with the game already gone the Loons’ way.

The rain-battered clash didn’t look like ending in an away win after the opening half hour but a lack of cutting edge against the impervious Forfar defence meant City were empty-handed at full-time yet again.

Craig said the players will keep working hard as a unit to get off the mark as soon as possible.

He said: “We’re trying to get the boys together and win games and you saw from the first half that we can play well. We just need to finish our chances.

“It looked like we were the team top of the league for half hour then they’ve got one chance and scored. We had five or six and didn’t score, it just goes to show how ruthless they are.

“It’s going to take hard work and we need to stick together. We just have to keep going, stay positive and keep believing. If we stay positive the results will come. As soon as we get that one result we’ll kick on and pull up the table.”
