Match-winner Finn Graham believes Brechin City’s secret to success this season has been their desire to win for each other.
The young midfielder was a summer recruit from Berwick Rangers and has slotted into the team seamlessly, both on and off the park.
Graham grabbed the decisive goal in City’s excellent 2-1 victory over East Fife at the weekend as Brechin went second in League One with an undefeated record.
The former Dunfermline lad reckons the team’s excellent team spirit has played a big part in that fine start.
He said: “We all want to win for each other, there’s a lot of team spirit. We want the best out of each other.
“We’re undefeated in the league, through in the cup, you can’t ask for much more. We just need to keep going, it’s a long season.”
Brechin looked comfortably after they took an early lead but the League Two champions battled back to equalise.
Finn admitted that goal was a shock to the system but he was thrilled that the team rallied back to win the game.
He said: “It was a hard-fought game. East Fife put a lot of pressure on us at the end. They were quick, they were tidy on the ball. But I think we dealt with everything they had to throw at us.
“I’m delighted to get a goal myself, it’s a good finish and my first goal.
“Within the first 10 minutes we were a goal up. Maybe it’s a lapse in concentration for 1-1 but we had to regroup from there and we got the winner.
“It was a hit to the system when they scored, they were on top at the time and took a boost. It was all about character from there and we have that, we’ve got a great team spirit around the side.”
