Brechin City manager Ray McKinnon is confident that his side is going to continue to get better as the season progresses.

His words came following City’s first home league game of the season, where they defeated East Fife 2-0 (see page 38 for a full match report).

Speaking after the match, Mr McKinnon said: “The first half was quite even. We had a few chances, they had a couple a chances.

“I think we probably dominated the second half and deserved the win.

“I’m pleased for the guys to get their first win of this season. To do it with a clean sheet is great, so I’m delighted.”

The manager was glad to get back to his home pitch, commenting: “It was good to get back and get a game here and it was good for the players to get accustomed to it. It’s a new surface, and they were slipping a bit in the first half.

“We’re finding our feet. We’ve got a few new guys in the team. We are starting to gel, and we are just going to get better and better. For now, we are going to have a solid back four and we’ve got our midfield and attack sorted.

“We’re getting there, and it’s going to get better, I’m confident of that.”
