Brechin City manager Ray McKinnon was left wishing he could have got onto the pitch following his side’s poor display against Forfar.
Brechin conceded four goals to the Loons before half-time in the derby last week.
Speaking after the match,Mr McKinnon said he was “bemused” by the performance, commenting: “I wish I could get on that park and deal with it myself.
“It was horrendous defending from the team in the first half. We never gave ourselves a chance. Forfar came at us and every time they got in our box they scored.
“I’m not ashamed to say this - we had to [steady the ship]. I would have like to have gone and attacked them and try to score four goals to draw or win the game. The reality was, the way we were defending we had to shut up shop.”
Despite the poor results, McKinnon added that some of his players performed well, saying: “There are some boys in that team that didn’t deserve that because they worked their socks off.
“There were far too many people today who were second best.
“We got punished and deservedly so. It just simply wasn’t good enough in the first half.
“That is something I need to take stock off. I’ve maybe been a bit too loyal to some players.
“Its my job to get the best out of the squad or change the squad round.”
