Brechin Vics 7

Forfar Albion 2

Brechin Vics welcomed Forfar Albion for their first home league match of the season.

Vics attacked from the start and Fertacz had a shot saved in the first minute.

Dunn came close on three minutes but his header was just wide.

They took the lead in the fifth minute after Young headed a King corner into the back of the net from six yards.

Two minutes later, Strachan came close when through on goal but the ‘keeper saved with his feet.

The home side extended their lead on eight minutes when Young scored with an identical goal, this time from a Dunn corner.

It was all Vics and Fertacz was again denied by a good save by the Albion keeper.

They scored number three on 27 minutes and it was Young again with the goal, heading home a King corner past the helpless ‘keeper.

Vics were dominant at this point and number four came on 35 minutes when a King run down the left created a chance for Fertacz who this time was able to find the back of the net.

Five minutes before half time Dunn almost made it five but he was just wide with his attempt.

Half-time: Brechin Vics 4, Forfar Albion 0.

Two minutes into the second half, Vics netted their fifth goal. Strachan drove through the heart of the Albion defence before being brought down for a penalty. He duly despatched the spot kick, sending the ‘keeper the wrong way.

It was 6-0 after 50 minutes following lofted ball by Wilson which found King, who made no mistake in placing the ball past the ‘keeper from 12 yards.

McKay was next to try his luck in the 60th minute when he sent a great shot from 18 yards crashing off the crossbar.

A moment of slack play allowed Albion a chance and Black duly scored past the helpless Robbie.

Another great move produced Vics seventh goal after 75 minutes when Dunn squared to Fertacz who slammed the ball into the corner of the net from 10 yards.

The scoring wasn’t over however, as Albion’s Milne scored with an excellent free kick from 20 yards with five minuted remaining.

Team: Robbie, Gourlay, Wilson, Whitworth, Ross, Strachan, McKay, King, Fertacz, Dunn and Young. Subs: S. Eaton, Renilson, Ferguson, Mitchell and Main (goalkeeper).

A spokesperson for the club said: “Vics have had an excellent start to the new season scoring 13 goals in the two games so far. Manager Charlie King is under no illusions however, and knows that harder games are just around the corner starting on Saturday, August 16, when Vics travel to meet Dundee East Craigie. Kick off is at 2.30 p.m.”
