Brechin Vics were narrowly defeated by Glenrothes on Saturday despite staging a second half comeback.
Vics were 3-0 down at the break but were able to fight back and bring it back to 3-2, but they just couldn’t find the equaliser.
Glenrothes took the lead on six minutess when Scarborough scored with a free header from six yards from a corner kick.
Vics almost got level on 10 mins when a good passing move presented Strachan with a chance but his shot from 18 yards was wide of the target.
Glenrothes went two up on 20 minutes when Napier advanced through the middle of Vics defence and slotted the ball past keeper Robbie from 12 yards.
King had a shot from 12 yards saved by the keeper and once again Strachan had a chance but from 10 yards screwed his effort wide.
Glenrothes were the better side at this point and went further ahead on the stroke of half time when again Napier was allowed to progress before hitting a shot high into the roof of the net from 16 yards.
Manager King made three changes at half time with the introduction of Lewis, Black and Rausch.
This made an immediate difference with Vics showing more fight and intensity to their play.
It was still Glenrothes who looked the more likely to score and only a good Robbie save from a free kick kept Vics in the game.
Vics gradually worked themselves back into things and Steel came close with a shot from 12 yards.
Brechin’s resurgence continued and they pulled a goal back on 72 minutes when Stephen scored from six yards after a King cross.
Vics had their tails up and pulled a further goal back on 75 mins when a long ball from Stephen found King who shot high into the corner of the net from 18 yards.
The comeback was almost complete on 82 minutes but Lewis saw his angled shot from 10 yards saved by the keeper.
They came even closer on 88 mins when Strachan headed narrowly over the cross bar from 10 yards.
Next up are two home games against Blairgowrie and Lochee Harp.
