City settle on new manager

Have your say

BRECHIN City caretaker manager Andy Millen, has ruled himself out of filling the Glebe Park managerial vacancy.

Millen, with the help of Kevin Mcgowne, has taken care of first time duties since the departure of Jim Weir on September 30.

Speaking after Saturday’s 3-1 defeat to Angus rivals Arbroath, Millen said: “The club will do their own thing as regards to the new manager.

“I came in with Jim and Kevin McGowan and I believe they will go down a different road.

“I realise players react differently to different managers. That may happen here.”

Several names have been linked with the post since Weir left the club.

Chairman Ken Ferguson told the club’s website before the Arbroath match that the club had received a good number of applications and had been impressed with the quality of those who had applied.

He added: “We’ll be looking very carefully at all of the applications and will make a further announcement in due course.”

It has since been confirmed that the club has selected a new manager, with an announcement at Glebe Park taking place on Tuesday, October 9 after the Brechin Advertiser went to press (see next week’s paper for more information).
