Brechin City sealed their place in the William Hill Scottish Cup fifth round following a 4-2 victory over Annan Athletic tonight (Tuesday).
Andy Jackson opened the scoring just four minutes in, following some fine passing play, with Ewan McNeil crossing from the byline and Jackson heading home past Alex Mitchell.
Jackson was on target again in 11th minute, this time firing past into the bottom right corner of the goal.
He netted his hat trick in the 27th minute after slotting home a Bobby Barr pass.
City maintained their lead until the 68th minute when Annan introduced Scott Davidson in to the game and he scored a well taken volley with his first touch of the game.
Just minutes later Colin Hamilton regained City’s three goal cushion when he headed home a Jamie Masson free kick .
Annan netted a consolation goal in the 76th minute with David Hopkirk appearing to score directly from corner kick, with the ball evading the home defence.
City ran out deserved winners in the end and will travel to face Falkirk in the fifth round of the competition.
