Brechin City Youth 4

Brechin City Youths Under-16s made the trip from east to west for their SYFA Challenge Cup third round tie.

The Angus-based Dundee and District YFA side visited Paisley, Johnstone and District YFL opposition in the form of Johnstone Burgh, after both sides had come through the two local rounds.

The home side started well and raced into a two-goal lead.

Things were looking ominous for the visitors, but Brechin showed great spirit to fight back and turn the game on its head.

Goals from Sam Wood and Connor Yeats put the Angus outfit back on level terms, tying the game up at 2-2.

The away side weren’t content with a draw, pushing forward and edging ahead courtesy of Jack George.

Any Johnstone Burgh hopes evaporated when Murray Smith netted Brechin’s fourth.
The final whistle blew and the journey East was a happy one of Brechin City, who will await the fourth round draw with optimism.
