Delighted Darren Dods hailed his players’ magnificent efforts to avoid automatic relegation to League Two.
Brechin City will finish no lower than ninth this season after Forfar Athletic’s relegation was confirmed on Saturday.
Dods praised the team spirit in the Glebe Park dressing room as the relentless players fought tooth and nail to keep City in the division.
And he said they all know that just one more performance is needed to ensure they don’t face the relegation play-offs.
He said: “Around two months ago on a Tuesday night we were turned over by Albion Rovers 4-1.
“It was a poor performance and we followed that up by getting beat again the following weekend.
“We then played Forfar here at the Glebe with ten games to go and we knew it would be a case of now or never and the boys rallied round and achieved a great victory that night.
“The spirit in the dressing-room had been great even prior to that game despite our poor run of form but following the performance that night against Forfar we’ve managed to keep the momentum going.
“Ok, we had a couple of set-backs against Dunfermline and Cowdenbeath when we were really unlucky not to take anything out of those matches but this victory made it six straight home wins which is a great achievement and testament to the work-rate and effort the players have put in.
“All of the players have been fantastic not just the starting 11. It’s been a fantastic squad effort.
“We won’t finish bottom now, but we need one more fantastic effort against Forfar next Saturday and we know that if we win that match we won’t be in the play-offs.
