Brechin City return to pre-season training this weekend in a far better position than they found themselves for last year’s off season.

Then-new manager Darren Dods struggled to get a squad together at all following his appointment at Glebe Park.

But now the gaffer is excited to see a much bigger group of players - aside from one or two absences due to holidays - assemble in Brechin on Saturday.

New signings Ally Love, Chris O’Neill, Ross Caldwell and Alan Trouten will be getting to know their new teammates and Dods is looking forward to it.

He said: “We go back to training on Saturday with a double session in Brechin. It’s been seven weeks so it’s gone quick.

“We’re happy to be getting back to training and playing again.

“It’ll be good to see the new players alongside the old ones and also, we’ve got more of a squad than we did last season when we started pre-season so we’re more organised.

“There’s one or two missing on the first day for holidays and things, and the first friendly, but we’d rather that happened now instead of during the season.”
