Darren Dods was in disbelief after Brechin City failed to take anything from their trip to Cowdenbeath.
The 2-1 loss at Central Park leaves City four points behind the Blue Brazil and one behind Forfar Athletic.
And while the shocked boss couldn’t believe the result, he said Brechin will have a good chance of League One survival if they maintain the level of performance they showed in Fife.
Darren said: “The players worked really hard and gave absolutely everything in the first-half and it was unbelievable that we went in at half-time a goal down.
Unfortunately you get games like that.
“I think they had one shot on goal whereas we had 10 shots on goal and at least six really good chances but whether it was really good saves or good blocks or whatever, we just couldn’t convert those opportunities.
“We at last got the goal our play deserved late on in the second-half and were beginning to get on top when we gave away a corner and the Cowdenbeath player finished really well.
“The result feels like a kick in the teeth after the effort the players put in especially in the first-half and I think that even the Cowdenbeath supporters were surprised that their team went in at half-time 1-0 up.
“Six weeks ago we were 10 points adrift of Cowdenbeath but we clawed that back, but although we might have been a bit sharper at the back for their goal there’s no doubt that if we keep pressing and working hard as we did we’ll create chances and score goals.
“The players’ heads are down at the moment but we know that if we can show the same level of commitment in our last three matches, we’ll give ourselves a good chance.
