Brechin City Youths Under-14s played hosts to Dundee Rangers this Sunday with Edzell being the venue for this league encounter.
With things being tight at the top of the league it was important for the home team to seal a win but despite an excellent performance the three points went back down the road to Dundee.
Brechin took the game to the opposition from the kick off. After six minutes a pass from Stewart found Rogerson who finished low past the ‘keeper for a 1-0 lead.
Dundee Rangers took only four minutes to get back on level terms when the ball was knocked into the net following a cross.
One minute later the opposition scored their second after poor defending. Despite constant pressure from the home side it was Dundee Rangers who scored again right on half time from a corner that was knocked into the net.
Brechin dominated the second half with chances falling to M. Mitchell, Renilson, Rogerson, Steele and Stewart with the Dundee ‘keeper on top form.
In 62 minutes Brechin got back into the game after Stewart got on the end of a corner to reduce the deficit to one. Despite pushing for an equaliser it was not to be and a disappointed team came off the park.
Manager for the day Derek Mitchell was delighted by the effort and football played but described the fixture as just one of those days.
