Forfar Under-15s 5
Brechin Under-15s 3
Brechin suffered their first defeat of the league campaign in a hard fought local derby at Forfar.
A strong wind dictated much of the play in this “top of the table” clash.
Brechin kicked off playing with the wind and pressurised the Forfar goal coming close on two occasions within the first few minutes.
Doan’s cross into the box was met by Allison - heading just over the bar. A few minutes later Doan again was involved with an in-swinging corner just nudging by the post.
They kept up the pressure and in 12 minutes were rewarded following a move started by Church-Forbes, playing a ball through to Doan who found Irvine in space. Irvine calmly slotted the ball past the ‘keeper.
Forfar fought back and pressurised the Brechin goal, coming close on two occasions, a fine run through seeing a shot hitting the bar, and a free kick being saved by the defending wall.
The Brechin defence worked hard to keep the Forfar forwards at bay, Somerville clearing off the line after ‘keeper Sim had been beaten.
Brechin increased their lead just before half time with a superb shot from Doan breaking in from the right to catch the ‘keeper off guard.

Forfar looked to take advantage of the wind in the second half and pressurised the Brechin goal. They were rewarded in 15 minutes with an in-swinging free kick from the left following a 50-50 tackle - judged to be a foul by the referee. Further pressure saw a penalty awarded to Forfar just four minutes later and the game was now level at two all.
Brechin fought back, driving against the oncoming wind and the match was evenly balanced until just before the half hour - a long ball out from the Forfar defence was chased down by the Forfar forward, thought to be from an offside position but not awarded by the referee.
Forfar extended their lead in 35 minutes following a corner - a long ball across goal was not cleared effectively and went in off the Brechin defender whilst trying to clear his lines.
Within minutes Forfar increased their lead with a free kick from 20 yards out in front of the goal. With the support of the following wind the shot went in, just under the bar.
Brechin again fought back and were rewarded with a penalty in the last minute of the game - Somerville calmly stepping up and sending the ‘keeper the wrong way.
