Forfar West End 4

Brechin Vics 0

Brechin Vics were forced into changes ahead of their clash with Forfar West End, with C. Eaton injured and Strachan only fit for the bench.

The side were bolstered by the return of Ross and Henderson, who had returned from injury and holiday respectively.

Vics created the first opportunity when a King free kick was flicked on by Barclay and was just out of the reach of Stephen at the back post.

The next 15 minutes play was mainly focused in the midfield, although Forfar were at this stage looking the more likely to score.

Vics’ defence however was holding out reasonably comfortably.

Their next chance came on 20 minutes when Buggins had a header from 12 yards saved by the ‘keeper.

Forfar took the lead on the half hour mark when a Cox cross was finished neatly by Hart from six yards.

Vics were dealt a further blow just before half-time when player/manager Charlie King had to be replaced because of an injury.

Half-time:

Forfar West End 1,

Brechin Vics 0.

Forfar came at Vics early in the second half and had a shot just wide in the first minute.

They extended their lead on 50 minutes when Vics lost the ball in the middle of the park and Cox was allowed to progress in on goal and, although looking clearly offside, he slotted the ball past Robbie from 12 yards.

Vics almost got a goal back on 60 minutes when Buggins had a free kick from 25 yards coming crashing back off the bar before being cleared to safety.

Forfar went further ahead on 62 minutes when Hart again scored from six yards after a cross from the right.

Vics tried to get back into the game and Gourlay had attempt from 25 yards go just wide of the target.

Forfar completed the scoring on 86 minutes when Cox outstripped the Vics defence and scored with a shot which went in off the post.

A spokesperson for Brechin Vics said: “This was a very disappointing performance by Vics.

“A hard week on the training ground lies ahead for the players as they prepare for Saturday, August 31, away game against East Craigie. Kick off is at 2.30 p.m.”
