Brechin City Under-15s 2
Stanley Socca 5
Brechin City Under-15s made an early exit from the Scottish Cup to the boys from Dunkeld following a below par performance.
Within five minutes of the start, Brechin took the lead - a shot from Doan rebounding from the defence and being pounced upon by Anderson, who volleyed the ball past the helpless ‘keeper.
However, they failed to capitalise on the early lead and were subsequently outplayed in midfield allowing Stanley to draw level just before the half hour - a long run down the right wing ending with a low shot just squeezing past Sim at the right hand post.
Stanley upped the pace and a second goal in 34 minutes was followed by a third two minutes later. The Brechin boys could make no headway and went into half time 3-1 down.
Playing with the wind, and with the sun behind them Brechin looked to try and recover the deficit but started slowly and, as a result went further behind in four minutes - a long ball through beating the defence, allowing the Stanley forward to slot the ball past the Brechin ‘keeper.
Facing an uphill struggle now, Brechin fought to try and regain some advantage, but with little effect. The stronger Stanley side kept Brechin at bay until a minute from the final whistle - a corner from Anderson flighted to the near post, was met by Doan who headed into the top corned of the net.
However Stanley were not finished - from the kick off they advanced and a speculative shot from 20 yards flew high into the net, just out of reach of the Brechin ‘keeper.
Team: Sim, Somerville, Allison, Stuart, Ryan Campbell, Booth, Doan, Walker, Peters, Irvine, Anderson, Souter, Szyjut, Duncan, Church-Forbes and Reece Campbell.
