BRECHIN City have been dealt an early season blow, with the news that striker Jim Lister will miss the opening competitive matches of the new campaign.
The former Alloa striker is to undergo a hernia operation in the next few days and is expected to be sidelined for around six weeks.
At the time of going to press on Tuesday (yesterday), Brechin City were preparing to entertain premier league side Dunfermline Athletic that evening.
This was the second pre-season friendly for the Reds, who went down three-one at home to Craig Brown’s Aberdeen last midweek (see page 23).
The build-up will continue with a third game on Saturday when City head north to take on Highland League champs Buckie Thistle.
