Brechin City Youths Under-13s travelled to Menzieshill High School in Dundee for this league clash hoping to keep the good form of the previous weeks going.
To the delight of coaches, players and parents the boys responded with another excellent performance.
Despite a sluggish start on a heavy pitch, it wasn’t long before the Brechin Under-13s team began to put the opposition under constant pressure.
After just 10 minutes Sam Crosby opened his account with a low shot inside the box which beat the keeper for a 1-0 lead.
Further pressure paid off and it was the turn of Matthew Mitchell who dispossessed the central defender before beating the keeper with a powerful effort to increase the lead.
Crosby scored his second a short time later before Steele got on the end of a rebound from the ‘keeper to make it four.
The goal of the game was scored just on half time when Sawyer dribbled past two defenders on the edge of the box before unleashing a piledriver past the home ‘keeper for a 5-0 half time lead.
Despite having a strong wind in their faces, Brechin started the second half as they ended the first and it wasn’t long before Sawyer notched the sixth after a good passing move involving a few players.
Stewart completed the scoring for the away team a short time later, acting quickest to get on the end of a rebound from the home keeper to make it 7-0.
Brechin continued to press, only allowing Dryburgh a few chances with the defence and ‘keeper all working hard together to keep the home team out but right on the final whistle and despite the efforts of Clark in goal, Dryburgh scored a well earned consolation.
