Brechin City Under-13s 3 Logie Harp 3
Brechin City Youths Under-13’s lined up at the public park in their first ever league game against Logie Harp, one of the strongest sides in their league.
During a slow start for the homeside, Logie went one goal up with a shot from a tight angle.
This seemed to serve as a wake up call for Brechin and for the remainder of the first half they played the better football, equalising when Kieran Longmuir scored directly from a free kick just outside the area.
Brechin took confidence from this and before half time they took lead when William Rattray fired into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
Half-time: Brechin Under-13s 2, Logie Harp 1.
The second half was an even affair with Brechin continuing to play some nice football and working hard to keep Logies’ playmakers out of the game.
Midway through the half Logie equalised with a fierce shot and shortly afterwards, they took the lead.
Brechin managed to regroup and with around 10 minutes remaining Connor Scott slotted a deserved equaliser after he dispossessed a defender and showed great composure to fire past the ‘keeper.
Both sides pushed for the winner and Brechin could have won it at right at the death however full time blew with the Brechin striker through on goal before a shot could be taken.
A spokesperson for the club said: “This was a fantastic effort from Brechin against a side who would have fancied leaving Brechin with all three points - a great start to the season.”
