Final game of the season ends in defeat for Under-13s

Brechin played their third game in the space of five days, which was also their last match of the season.

The game could not have been tougher, playing against a Fairmuir side who had won very league and cup game they played this season.

This was compounded by the loss of two players to injury prior to kick off.

Brechin gave a good account of themselves in the first half where Fairmuir’s quality was evident. Although Brechin struggled to make much in the way of clear cut chances they battled hard.

The big Fairmuir striker had pace to burn and his running with the ball was proving difficult to stop and he did much of the damage in the first period which saw Brechin go in two down at half time.

Fairmuir exerted their authority throughout the second half which saw Brechin struggle to get any foothold in the game, although to be fair the boys did not allow their heads to go down and they continued to play to the very end.

The main feature of the second half was the outstanding performance of keeper Tyler Webley who proved what a huge asset he is to the team as he almost single handedly held of Fairmuir with a succession of saves which defied belief at times and led to widespread praise from all present.

Despite this, Fairmuir were able to add a further three goals to their tally to continue their 100 per cent record for the season.
