Brechin City Youths Under-14s travelled to Montrose on November 30, looking for three points to maintain their climb up the league.
Brechin were first to threaten when a Sawyer ball down the left was crossed to the back post by Crosby with Andrew Mitchell just failing to get on the end of it. A short time later Renilson got in behind the home defence and knocked the ball past the onrushing ‘keeper, but unfortunately it also went past the post.
Both teams then began to struggle in possession with very little chances being created at either end for a 0-0 half time score.
A strong talking to at half time produced a completely different second half display with Brechin playing some excellent passing football and totally dominating proceedings.
In the 60th minute Brechin took the lead with Steele getting on the end of a Renilson cross following good work by the midfield to finish low past the ‘keeper.
Some excellent passing play between the team ended up with a Sawyer cut back to the edge of the box and Crosby finishing low into the corner for a 2-0 lead. Brechin continued to create chances as the game went on and gave very little away with the back four of Lamb, Milne, Stuart and Akers on top form.
The man of the match award was shared between Steele and Stuart.
