Hectic spell coming up

BRECHIN City fans will have plenty of action to look forward to once the weather improves.

The number of games postponed due to the frosty conditions of late means that the reds will be in action twice a week until they catch up with the backlog of matches.

The latest match to fall foul of the conditions was Saturday’s trip to East Fife.

The game was one of the first to bite the dust on the Saturday morning, as overnight temperatures dipped, the game being postponed at around 9.30 am.

That game will now go ahead at the New Bayview Stadium on Tuesday, March 6.

Before that the Glebe Parkers have a raft of games to fit in.

First up is a home game against Airdrie United this coming Saturday, followed by the first of the postponed fixtures - at home to near neighbours Arbroath on Tuesday evening of next week.

Saturday, February 18 will take Brechin City to Stirling Albion, before Stenhousemuir visit Brechin on Tuesday, February 21.

Cowdenbeath is the next stop for the reds on Saturday, February 25, the next midweek game home to Stirling Albion on Tuesday, February 28.

The first Saturday in March sees Brechin at home to Dumbarton, before that visit to East Fife on Tuesday, March 6.

All going well, weatherwise, that would bring Brechin bang up to date with the current fixture schedule - although more frost or snow could put paid to the best laid plans.

Even the under-19 side is not escaping the weather, the latest match against Peterhead at Links Park being called off on Sunday past due to a frozen surface.
