Lochee Harp 2 Brechin Vics 1

BRECHIN Vics travelled to Dundee on Saturday hopeful of continuing their good run.

Things started well for Vics when they took the lead after just three minutes.

Good play down the left involving Young and Fyfe saw the later send in a great cross into the box and from 16 yards Archibald volleyed high into the roof of the Lochee net, giving the keeper no chance.

Vics continued to dominate the early exchanges, with some neat play carving open the Harp defence.

Shots from Fyfe, Easton and Fullarton tested the Harp keeper, who was up to the challenge.

At the other end the Vics defence was holding firm, with Robbie a virtual spectator in the Vics goal.

Vics started the second half on top but without carving out any clear-cut opportunities.

Harp were beginning to look dangerous, especially from set pieces, and it was from a free kick that they equalised.

Although Robbie made a great save from the initial header from eight yards he could do nothing about the rebound which was smashed into the net from three yards.

Manager Longmuir was looking for a response but it failed to materialise and Harp took the lead after 64 minutes when a striker was put clear after Vics lost the ball in midfield and he was able to beat Robbie from 20 yards.

Vics huffed and puffed after this and had a great chance to equalise when Fyfe rounded the keeper but put his shot from an acute angle went just wide of the goal.

Brechin Vics - Robbie, Skelly, Young, P. Ross, Low, Russell, Fullarton, Archibald, Easton, D. Ross and Fyfe; subs - Black, S .Eaton, McNaught, Trialist and Gauld.

After such an encouraging opening half Vics failed to turn up for the second half.

Manager Longmuir was bitterly disappointed with the performance.

Vics will need to improve quickly as they have a difficult away fixture this Saturday, when they again travel to Dundee to meet Violet (kick-off 2.30 pm).
