Late goal sees Under-14s only manage a draw

DUSC Under-14s 4

Brechin Under-14s 4

Brechin City Youths Under-14’s travelled to face Dundee United Sports Club in their second league game.

Brechin started the match well, with Rogerson getting on the end of a Sawyer cross within the first minute to finish low past the ‘keeper.

They continued to press and thought they had added a second when Steele volleyed home a Rogerson cross, but a dubious offside decision saw the goal disallowed.

After 27 minutes, the home team equalised when a cross into the box deflected off of Lamb and wrong footed Clark in goal.

Brechin continued to press and it was Rogerson who scored to put the team in front with a shot from a wide angle after rounding the ‘keeper.

As half time approached, the visiting defence got themselves into a bit of a mix up allowing the DUSC forward the chance to prod the ball home with the last kick of the half.

Half-time: DUSC 2, Brechin Under-14s 2.

Chance after chance landed at the feet of the Brechin players but they couldn’t find the back of the net.

It was against the run of play when the home team took the lead following a well struck shot from outside the box.

With 10 minutes left, Brechin pulled themselves right back into the game following a foul on Stewart. Renilson took the free kick from 25 yards out leaving the DUSC ‘keeper helpless as it sailed past him.

Unfortunately, in the final minutes the Brechin defence switched off, allowing a throw in to bounce into the box with the home forward striking the ball home with the last kick of the game.
