Brechin City welcomed Dunfermline Athletic to Glebe Park in their first meeting of the season.

Both sides had chances in the first half, with Andy Jackson shooting just past the post, and Robert Thomson having an effort hitting the post.

However, it was Dunfermline who eventually took the lead in the 38th minute, when Thomson latched on to a Callum Morris pass and shot past an oncoming Graeme Smith and into the back of the net.

The two sides traded more fouls than chances in the second half, with the referee starting to dominate the play - with eight bookings given in the match.

It was City who got a breakthrough though in the 76th minute, when Jackson blasted home to make the scores level.

Despite further chances for both sides, neither was able to get that crucial goal and the match ended in a deserved 1-1 draw.
