Preseason win for Brechin Under-16s

Following a successful season, finishing third in the league, the Brechin City Youths Under-15s have now moved up to the Under-16s for the 2014/15 season.

Stanley Socca, last year’s Scottish Cup opponents, returned to Brechin for a preseason friendly.

Brechin played several trialists and were without their first choice ‘keeper, with Church-Forbes playing instead.

Brechin started strongly, pressing the Stanley goal, and were rewarded with just six minutes played.

Anderson floated in an excellent ball which was flicked on by Booth to one of the trialists who headed into the top left corner past an outstretched goalkeeper to take a one nil lead at half-time.

Brechin increased their lead 20 minutes in to the second half.

Anderson laid a perfect ball through to Irvine, who drove into the box, and slipped the ball under the advancing ‘keeper only to see the ball rebound off the post. Anderson had followed up the pass and fired the rebound into the back of the net.

In the final minutes Stanley secured a consolation goal after a loose ball into the Brechin box was driven across the line.
