The heavy rain on Saturday resulted in the Brechin Vics’ fixture away to Lochee Harp becoming something of a damp squid.

The squad, managed by Charlie King, had arrived at Lochee’s ground ready to play, but 40 minutes before kick-off the decision to postpone the match was taken, due to the waterlogged pitch.

The Brechin Vics’ squad were already kitted up and ready to start their warm up when the decision was taken.

A spokesperson for Brechin Vics commented: “The referee had no alternative but to postpone the game when Lochee Harp ground staff refused to try and sweep away the water from a small area near one of the goal mouths.

“The Brechin Vics committee and management were very disappointed with Lochee Harp’s reluctance to try and get the game played but appreciate the referee had no alternative but to postpone the game.”

Vics’ next fixture is at home this Saturday (October 26) where they will be on Scottish Cup duty.

They are set to welcome Aberdeen East End to Nursery Park for the second round fixture, with the match scheduled to kick off at 2.30 p.m.
