Brechin City’s first league match ended in defeat when they travelled to Ibrox to face Rangers.
The homeside scored within the first two minutes, but City ‘keeper Graeme Smith pulled of several fantastic stops to keep his side in the match.
A Nicky Law goal six minute from the end of the half seen Rangers go in to the break with a two nil lead.
However, City pulled a goal back in the 65th minute when a sublime Steve Jackson overheard kick soared past Rangers’ ‘keeper.
Unfortunately, an 81st minute penalty seen Rangers increased their lead, and City go a man down after Paul McLean was sent off after his challenge on Andrew Little.
A fourth goal from Dean Shiels’ sealed Rangers’ victory.
