Brechin City provided a tough match for the League One leaders when they travelled to Ibrox to take on Rangers.
Despite the home side dominating the first half, Brechin fought back in style in the second half, and almost took a point from 10-man Rangers.
Speaking after the match, manager Ray McKinnon said: “We thought we might have snuck a draw at the end, but it wasn’t to be. We gave everything we had and I’m pleased with how we played.”
He added: “We have got a bit of firepower in our team. We definitely cause teams problems and have now scored five against Rangers this season.
“That is no mean feat because they are a formidable team.”
Rangers manager Ally McCoist said: “If you look back to the Stranraer game when they equalised in the 95th minute, it shows what can happen.
“Brechin got a free kick on the edge of the box late on and I was thinking, ‘Is it going to be one of these days?’.
“It was a strange afternoon. After the first 45 minutes, you definitely wouldn’t have seen the last five where we were hanging on coming.”
Brechin City are at home to East Fife this Saturday (February 8) and will be looking to continue their fine run for form.
