Brechin City will have to face Annan Athletic again in a Scottish Cup Replay after a 1-1 draw at Galabank Stadium on Saturday.
The winners of the replay - at Glebe Park on Tuesday, December 9 - will face Falkirk away in the next round.
Matty Flynn cancelled out Colin Hamilton’s opener as Andrew Jackson hit the woodwork in injury time.
There were few chances in the first period but Alan Trouten narrowly missed from a long range effort before Jackson went close.
Kyle Mcausland’s free-kick from way out was then headed past Alex Mitchell by Hamilton, a terrific looping effort.
City couldn’t find a killer second goal after the break and the Galabankies punished them on the hour mark, Flynn firing past Graeme Smith after a well placed cross from David Hopkirk.
The game then opened right up and the action flowed from one end to the other, with City enjoying the better chances by far but the home defence were able to keep the League One side at bay.
Trouten drove narrowly over the bar before a series of goalmouth scrambles at the Annan end saw the hosts’ defenders throwing their bodies on the line for the cause.
And Jackson finally beat the keeper late on, only to be denied by the woodwork as his effort cannoned back off of the right hand post.
The game finished level, just like every other meeting between the sides, meaning they will face off in a replay at Brechin on Tuesday evening, kick-off at Glebe Park is 7.45 p.m.
Brechin saw an astonishing 18 shots on goal against Annan, 10 of which were on target, so they will be confident of making it past the Borders side and into the next round of the cup at the second time of asking.
