Brechin City came back home empty handed for the second Saturday in succession after a disappointing 3-2 defeat from Stenhousemuir at Ochilview.

The result moves City down to seventh place in the Scottish League One table but the outcome certainly wasn’t anticipated given the bright start that the players made to the match.

Speaking after the game, manager Ray McKinnon commented: “We went in 1-0 up at half-time and we asked the players to approach the game the way they did in the first half but we found ourselves a goal down after 25 seconds because of poor defending.

“The second one we gave away six minute later was just rash, horrendous defending. Then for the third, their biggest threat in air wasn’t picked up and he [Gemmell] got a free header.

“It’s frustrating. It was poor defending and I’m really disappointed in that.

“We have a problem defensively. We are not dealing with things properly and that is something I will have to work on and take in to consideration in the coming weeks.

“It’s frustrating for me as a manager not to get the same reaction at the start of the second half as we got at the start of the first.

“For me, personally as the manger, I’m disappointed because they are better than that.”
