Brechin City travelled to Stair Park face Stranraer on Saturday, looking to bounce back after a mid-week cup defeat.
Ray McKinnon’s side took the long trip to face Stranraer after their marathon mid-week Scottish cup fourth round replay against Forfar Athletic (see page 54).
Stranraer were the in-form team in going in to the match, having won their previous four ties, including a mid-week cup game against Clyde.
It was the result McKinnon, or City fans, wanted as they left Stranraer on Saturday evening having been defeated 3-0 and had a player sent off.
The home side took the lead in the first half, after 27 minutes of play through Jamie Longworth.
Any hope of a second half fight back were severely dented when Darren Petrie was sent off in the 49th minute, for a bad challenge.
The home side made the most of their one man advantage, doubling their lead 10 minutes later through Martin Grehan.
Stranraer wrapped up all three points in the 90th minute, when Grant Gallagher completed the scoring.
Speaking after the match, coach Darren Taylor, said: “We have to do a lot better than that. Our defending was poor and we never really got into the game which was really disappointing.”
