Brechin City’s fixture against Airdrieonians was postponed on Saturday, after extreme wind and snow left the pitch unplayable.
The club, aided by a group of volunteers, put on the pitch covers at Glebe Park on Wednesday evening, but the strong winds that hit the county on Thursday unravelled the efforts as the covers were blown off, leaving half the pitch uncovered.
The resultant snow and ice left the game isnserious doubt, with areas of the pitch frozen.
An inspection was set for 8 a.m. on Saturday morning, and, as expected, it was called off.
The re-arranged fixture is set to take place on Tuesday, December 17, with a 7.45 p.m. kick-off.
Brechin City were in action last night (Tuesday) when they travelled to Station Park to take on Forfar Athletic in the William Hill Scottish Cup fourth round replay.
The winner of the fixture, which was played as the Brechin Advertiser went to print, will host premier league side St Johnstone in the fifth round of the competition.
The tie will be played on the weekend of February 8 and 9, 2014.
Brechin City’s next home fixture is set to take place on Saturday, December 28, where they will host Stenhousemuir.
