Three points for Brechin’s Under-13s

Finlathen u-13s 2

Brechin u-13s 4

Brechin travelled to Dundee for the second time in three days.

As the game started, Brechin were playing some nice bright football and causing Finlathen problems with their passing and movement, with the pace of Finlay Keith and Ollie Yates looking likely to open the defence up.

Before long Keith time a great run to find himself through on the keeper and he made no mistake to put Brechin one up. It didn’t take him long to add another when a fine through ball again gave him the opportunity which ended with the same result making it 2-0.

Brechin were looking good to add to the score and duly did so when James Williamson found himself in the area, firing the ball into the keeper’s near post which should have put the game beyond Finlathen.

This was not the case as slack defending allowed Finlathen to pull a goal back.

Brechin rallied again and Keith found himself with the opportunity to complete his hat-trick. This time the keeper saved the effort but the rebound was knocked home by Yates to restore Brechin’s three goal advantage before another defensive error gifted Finlathen a second goal.

Half time: Finlathen 2, Brechin 4.

The second half was less eventful with Brechin seemingly in control of seeing the game out. The season’s top scorer Williamson notched his second of the game to make it 5-2 with a fine strike before Finlathen reduced the margin again.

Finlathen huffed and puffed but Brechin comfortably held out for a deserved three points.
