BRECHIN Vics Junior Football Club have found the going tough in the early stages of the 2011-2012 campaign.
Playing in the group stages of the D. J. Laing League Cup, Vics kicked off the campaign last Wednesday evening, going down by the odd goal in three at Kirrie Thistle.
The visitors found themselves trailing to two goals scored by trialists before hitting back with a Colin McNaught strike, but it wasn’t enough to salvage anything from the game.
Then, on Saturday, Brechin Vics were on the end a hammering by the very much on song Carnoustie Panmure, going down by seven goals to one.
Scott Gates hit a hat-trick and there were strikes by Josh Perera, Kevin Milne, Greg Beattie and Mike McIlravey as the Gowfers made it 13 goals in two League Cup outings.
Colin McNaught was again on target for Vics.
The Brechiners will get the opportunity to get back on song on Wednesday evening (tonight) when they play host to Coupar Angus in a League Cup group A encounter, the game kicking off at 7 pm.
Saturday sees Vics make the short trip through to Forfar to take on a West End side not quite as strong as last season. (kick-off 2.30 pm).
