Angus North and Mearns SNP MSP, Nigel Don, has lent his support to the ‘Sell Out Saturday’ campaign - the Scotland wide push to encourage people to get behind their local team.
Mr Don said: “Given what is expected to be a harsh financial period during season 2012/13, clubs will need enthusiastic support from local communities”.
Mr Don, who is a resident of Brechin, met with Ken Ferguson Chairman of Brechin City FC outside Glebe Park, to wish him all the best for the coming season.
Sporting the red and white scarf of Brechin City FC, Mr Don said, “I’m asking all Brechin City fans to get behind the team.
“Even if you have never been to a match before, please make the effort on the 11th, let’s get the new season off to a great start and create a great family atmosphere across Angus.”
‘Sell Out Saturday’ will take place on the August 11, 2012, with Brechin City hosting Albion Rovers.
