Brechin City Under 15s, 5
Brechin City U15’s made a fine start to the new season with a comprehensive win over Lochside at Forfar.
Within a minute of the kick off, new boy Josh Peters sent a ball through to Billy Irvine who fired a shot into the bottom left hand corner to set the Brechin boys up with a 1-0 lead.
Brechin kept up the pressure on the Lochside defence and six minutes later came close to a second when Doan picked up the ball and fired a shot just past the right hand post.
With their heads up and driving forward, they continued to pressure the Lochside defence and were rewarded with a second goal in 16 minutes - Peters again setting the goal up with a strong run down the right, and a cross from the bye-line being met by Doan who turned the ball into the net.
Peters continued to worry the Lochside defence with driving runs down the right flank and was almost rewarded himself with a fine shot which was parried by the Lochside keeper and Irvine drove a shot back in - only to hit the bar.
Just before the half hour mark, Doan sent Fraser Stuart through and his driving shot was again parried by the Lochside ‘keeper, only to go as far as Irvine who netted his second of he match with a flying overhead kick - putting the Brechin boys 3-0 ahead.
Lochside fought back toward the end of the first half with a fine run through - but with only the Brechin ‘keeper to beat, the resulting shot being fired over the bar.

Playing with the wind, Brechin again drove forward from the start of the second half, and were rewarded with a free kick on the left hand edge of the penalty box.
A beautifully engineered set piece saw Booth step over the ball and Doan drive a shot hard toward goal, rising just over the bar.
The game was being driven by Brechin and they came close on three further occasions with fine shots by Doan, Stuart, and Duncan.
The Lochside defence had to work hard to prevent Brechin extending their lead, and the Lochside ‘keeper made a number of saves to support this.
It was 35 minutes into the second half when Brechin were rewarded with their fourth goal - Peters again setting it up with a pass back to Reece Campbell, who drove a fine shot across goal from the right hand edge of the penalty box, into the left hand corner of the net.
With less than a minute to play, Brechin extended their lead to five when K. Szyjut sent a fine ball on for Irvine to chase into the box and drive the ball past the advancing keeper for his hat trick.
This was fine performance from the whole Brechin team working well together and seeing the benefit of the summer training schedule.
