Vics cruise to a home victory

Vics first home league game of the season resulted in a deserved victory.

Vics started off strongly, with Low having an effort cleared off the line in the first minute. Mihaylov was next to have an attempt but the Blair keeper saved at his feet.

Two minutes later Vics should have scored when Nicol’s speculative effort came back off the crossbar only for McNaught to volley the rebound high over the bar from six yards.

It was all Vics at this stage, with Mihaylov again doing well down the left but his cross just failed to pick out McNaught in the box.

Vics eventually took the lead midway through the half when McNaught drove past three defenders before coolly placing the ball past the on-rushing keeper.

Blair put Vics under pressure and within a minute of the restart Robbie, forced into a good diving save.

Almost immediately Vics broke up field and Ross unleashed a great drive from 25 yards into the corner of the net, giving the keeper no chance.

Vics were bouyant at this stage and went three up five minutes into the second half after Ross had played a great ball to McNaught, who coolly rounded the keeper before placing the ball into the empty net.

Vics were controlling the second half with some excellent play down the right involving Black and Mihaylov.

These two presented an opportunity for Moffat but his shot was easily saved by the keeper.

Blair eventually pulled a goal back on 86mins when they were awarded a penalty kick which was duly despatched past Robbie.

Team - Robbie, Gauld, Young, Low, Gourlay, Moffat. Mihaylov, Ross, McNaught, Milne and Nicol; subs - Black, Trialist and Trialist,
