Brechin Vics 1

East Craigie 4

Brechin Vics were under pressure right from the kick off but survived Craigie’s early attacks.

They were finding it difficult to get into their passing game, with the blustery wind not helping their cause. Robbie was called into action on 10 minutes, tipping over a shot from 20 yards.

East Craigie took the lead on 12 minutes when Mann reacted quickest to a ball in the box and slotted into the net.

The visitors went further ahead when Mann scored with a shot from 20 yards which went in off the post.

Vics had a great chance to pull a goal back when Strachan was played in on goal but his attempt went narrowly wide of the target.

Half-time: Brechin Vics 0, East Craigie 2.

East Craigie made it three after 67 minutes when Small scored with a free kick from 25 yards.

Vics began to show a threat and were awarded a penalty on 70 minutes when Strachan was fouled in the box, and Whitworth stepped up and converted the spot kick.

They tried to reduce the leeway further but were caught out on 78 minutes when Mann completed his hat trick again reacting quickest in the box to smash the ball past Robbie.

A club spokesperson said: “A very disappointing afternoon for Vics in a game that the visitors deserved their victory.

Vics are struggling to get consistency to their performances since the weather enforced a fire week break. They will have to pick themselves up for next weeks game, Saturday, March 14, when they travel to meet Forfar Albion. Kick off is at 2.30 p.m.”
