Brechin Vics 1
Lochee Harp 2
Vics returned to league duty on Saturday when they were at home for the third consecutive week.
The homesters created the first chance when Laing played a great ball to Buggins and when his cross came into the box it was just out of the reach of Whitworth.
Robbie was brought into action two minutes later when he saved well at his near post.
The game was being played mainly in the midfield but Vics came close after a great Young run gave S. Eaton a chance but his shot from 20 yards was saved.
Vics came even closer on 25 minutes when a Gourlay shot from 18 yards was cleared off the Harp line with the ‘keeper beaten.
Harp had the better of the closing 15 minutes of the first half and took the lead three minutes from the break when Miller was allowed a free header from 10 yards from a corner kick.
Half-time: Brechin Vics 0, Lochee Harp 1.
Vics came out in determined fashion and came close on five minutes when a Buggins shot from 25 yards came crashing off the crossbar and cleared to safety.
Harp shocked Vics on 60 minutes when a cross into the box wasn’t cleared and Miller was allowed to prod the ball into the net. Vics pushed forward for the remainder of the match and although having plenty possession they failed to create any clear-cut chances.
But they did get a goal back on 80 minutes when Easton made ground down the left before crossing to Robertson who swept the ball past the keeper from six yards.
Try as they might, Vics were unable to get on level terms.
Team - Robbie, Gourlay, Stark, Easton, Cairney, S Eaton, Buggins, Laing, Fyfe, Whitworth, Young. Substitutes: Robertson, Dunn and Reilly.
This was a disappointing performance by Vics with them never achieving the standards that are expected of them.
