Vics on the rise after second successive victory

Brechin Vics saw off East Craigie 2-1 on Saturday.

Vics were trying to get the ball down and were having success down the flanks.

Strachan laid the ball back to Milne who sent in an inviting cross for Black to knock the ball passed the keeper from six yards. Vics were in control and came close to increasing their lead on 18 minutes when Steel had a shot from 20 yards saved after some good build up play.

East Craigie came out for the second half in determined fashion and came close on 48 minutes but the shot went wide.

Vics were dealt a blow on 68 minutes when East Craigie equalised. Walls cut in from the left and sent a shot from 18 yards past Robbie into the corner of the net.

Vics responded quickly and two minutes later a great run from Steel saw his cut back go across the six yard box but to Vics’ agony there were no takers.

The game continued to be niggely and Sturrock of Vics was sent off after a coming together with an East Craigie player.

Brechin deservedly took the lead on 87 minutes when King was adjudged to have been pushed in the box and a penalty was awarded. Strachan stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way to give Vics the three points.

After last week’s three points it was vital that Vics followed this up with a home victory.

Vics have a very difficult League fixture next Saturday when they travel to face promotion favourites Downfield. Kick off is 2.30pm
