Weather puts a stop to Vics’ match

Brechin Vics were set to welcome Lochore Welfare to Victoria Park on Saturday, but Friday’s heavy rain forced a postponement.

A Saturday morning pitch inspection left the referee with no alternative than to declare the waterlogged pitch unplayable.

Charlie King’s side had been looking to build on recent performances, having defeated Forfar Albion 2-1 on January 25.

They will be hoping the recent wet weather is kinder to them this weekend as they prepare to travel to face Arbroath Vics on Saturday (February 8) with a 2 p.m. kick off.

Brechin Vics are set for another away trip the following weekend, this time travelling to face league leaders Dundee North End on Saturday, February 15.

The current league standings are as follows:-

1, Dundee North End (49 points); 2, Luncarty (37); 3, Newburgh (35), 4, Kennoway Star Hearts (34); 5, Blairgowrie (31); 6, Scone Thistle (29); 7, Downfield (28); 8, Forfar West End (26); 9, Lochore Welfare (24); 10, Thornton Hibs (23); 11, East Craigie (22); 12, Arbroath Vics (22); 13, Lochee Harp (17), 14, Brechin Vics (14); 15, Forfar Albion (12); 16, Coupar Angus (0).
