In with the bricks

BRECHINERS are being offered an opportunity to have their names cast in stone amongst the very fabric of Glebe Park, with the launch of an innovative fund-raising plan - one which will also provide a lasting testimony to mark any event in fans' lives.

Brechin City Supporters' Club are launching a "Wall of Fame", which will be situated in the Trinity Road stand alongside a memorial to former chairman, David Will.

Organiser George Reid said: "We are offering local people the opportunity to have their inscription on our Wall of Fame, which will be there for everyone to see for many years to come.

"This is open to everyone and you can have your name or message placed on a quality engraved hand-painted brick slip.

"This will then be on display along the Wall of Fame situated in the entrance of the Trinity Road stand next to the 1982-83 Lounge.

"For 30 a single brick slip can be inscribed with two rows of up to 16 characters each. A double brick slip can be inscribed with up to four rows of 16 characters and can be purchased for 45. The size of a standard size brick slip is 215 x 65 millimetres. A double brick slip measures up at 215 x 140 millimetres.

"The other good thing about the materials being used is they are eco friendly. Typically 90 per cent of the content is from recycled materials and is of a high strength. We feel these will make a great gift to give anyone for any occasion."

Application forms for your very own entry into the "Wall of Fame" are available from both the Brechin City Supporters' Club shop or the 1982-83 Lounge.

The supporters' club has its next fund-raising initiative with a barbecue and duck race on Saturday, July 17 at 12.30 pm at the Inch.

The club's annual general meeting also saw former chairman Jim Craig elected as an honorary president after many years service to Brechin City Supporters' Club.
