Midland Golfers’ Alliance

This week the Midland Golfers’ Alliance held the WH Miller Team Competition at Monifieth Links in very windy conditions over the Medal Course.

Alastair Webster (P), Edzell, won the scratch prize by three shots with a two under par score of 69. Chris Westland (11), Alloa, won the handicap prize with a net 70 and led his team of Graeme Brown (AP), Montrose, and James Wilson (14), Dunfermline, to first place in the team event.

Shot of the day went to 92-year-old James Edmiston, Burntisland, who holed in one at the 191 yard fifth hole using his driver.

69, A. Webster (P), Edzell; 72, G. Brown (AP), Montrose; C. Armstrong (AP), Burntisland; 73, G. Tough (+1), Edzell; 75, G. Mcleod (P), Monifieth; 76, K. Bruce (1), Edzell.

70, C. Westland (11), Alloa; 71, N. Wilson (10), Ladybank; 72, D. Wilson (5), Monifieth; 73, A. Black (12) Tulliallan; 74, G. Tough (+1), Edzell; A. Maxwell (5) Burntisland; J. Smith (3), Charleton; 75, K. Bruce (1) Edzell.

Qualifiers for the JTC Kitchen Express Midland Golfers’ Alliance Championship in April at Monifieth Links are G. McLeod, M. Anderson, M. Rae, S. Graham and A. Maxwell. The qualifier for the JTC Kitchen Express McQueen Shield at Monifieth Links in April is N. Wilson Ladybank. The next meeting takes place at 8.30 a.m. in Crieff tomorrow (Thursday).

Brechin District darts

The Brechin and District darts league held their annual league singles tournament at the Parkview Bowling Club on March 5. A total of 40 players took part in the competition. Ray Porterfield and Malcolm contested the final, with Ray winning the title following a 3-2 victory.
