League action was dispensed with on Wednesday, January 30, when the Brechin and District Darts held a triples tournament at the Bridgend Bar.
The final was contested by Ross Graham, David Gordon Senior and Andrew Williams against Ross Parsons, Brian Mcleod and Glen Parsons.
A spokesperson for the Brechin and District darts committee said: “Thanks to all players who turned up to take part in the annual triples competition and thanks to the Bridgend Bar for hosting the evening.
“Fourteen teams took part and it came down to the Legion 1 v the Red Lion 1 in the final with the Red Lion roaring to another victory.”
High checkouts on the night came from K. Parsons who took out 155 and from G. Stewart who finished off 110. R. Porterfield was the only player of the tournament to hit a maximum 180.
It’s cup action for Brechin teams on Wednesday, February 6 (tonight), as the semi-finals of both the Hood and Dizzy cup get under way. The fixtures are as follows:-
Hood Cup - Park Bar A v Bridgend A (to be played at the Red Lion); Red Lion v Brigend B (to be played at the Legion)
Dizzy Cup- Brechin Arms v Eastend (to be played at the City Royal); Legion v City Royal (to be played at the Brechin Arms).
League action resumers on Wednesday, February 13. The fixtures are as follows:-
Red Lion v Park Bar A; Brechin Arms v Bridgend A; Parkview v City Royal; Park Bar B v Legion; Bridgend B v Eastend.
Brechin are due to start their super league campaign soon, with the first fixture scheduled for March 15 at home to Forfar. Last year the team finished fifth out of six teams, having won two matches. Brechin’s home matches are held at the Bridgend Bar and any players interested in joining the super league team should contact captain Simon Porter via the Brechin and District Darts Facebook page.
Three of the Brechin league players, Simon Porter, Andy Donald and Ryan Cameron, will be on duty for Angus County darts on Saturday, February 9 when Angus host East Stirlingshire at the Red Lion Holiday Caravan Park, Arbroath.
