Brechin Junior Rugby club were invited to be the Guard of Honour and play a match on the Murrayfield pitch as part of the Edinburgh Rugby v Newport Dragons Guinness Pro 12 fixture on Saturday October 11. Children from P4 to P7 travelled down to join in a family fun day prior to the match where they got to meet players and even run some drills with them before then taking to the pitch to welcome the teams on for the main match.
At half-time P6 players, including representative from Arbroath and Strathmore rugby clubs took to the hallowed Murrayfield turf to play Madrascals from St Andrews.
Although beaten 4–2 the joy of playing rugby at the national stadium was evident on all the youngster faces. Coach, Dianne Morland congratulated the kids on not only their performance but their maturity in representing the club at such a high level. She added: “Well done to all involved.”
