Scottish Hockey in partnership with Angus Council Sports Development Team, Monarchs Hockey Club and Brechin Thistle Ladies Hockey Club are delighted to announce a second round of “Hockey Nights” sessions in Brechin.
These sessions will start in Brechin on August 23 and once again provide children aged 10-19 years the chance to take part in the CashBack for Communities initiative, “Hockey Nights”.
CashBack for Communities is a programme of diversionary activities for young people to increase the opportunities they have to develop their interests and skills in an enjoyable, fulfilling and supported way.
The “Hockey Nights” programme will focus on the development of core hockey skills and small games at the end of sessions to help develop newly found skills.
All sessions will be delivered by qualified Scottish Hockey coaches and all hockey equipment will be provided for these free sessions.
Tayside Hockey Development Coordinator Scott Anderson said: “I am delighted to be able to run a second block of sessions within the CashBack for Communities initiative.
“The original sessions were very well attended by the local kids, with tremendous support from Monarchs Hockey Club and Brechin Thistle Ladies Hockey Club.
“This is a further opportunity to bring new children to a sport they may never have had any contact with in the past.
“We have already seen a transition from this diversionary activity into a developmental activity, with the youngsters accessing a local club set up such as Monarchs Hockey Club or Brechin Thistle Ladies for continued participation in the sport.”
The “Hockey Nights” sessions will take place at Brechin Leisure Centre and will run for nine weeks every Tuesday from 6 pm to 7 pm from August 23 to October 18.
