A YOUNG Brechin golfer is celebrating after being victorious in the Angus County Boys Strokeplay Championship.
Callum Rennie, 17, won the tournament with a three-under-par 65, having been one stroke off the lead after his first round of 73.
He rounded his win off with a long putt on the 18th for a birdie, winning the tournament by four strokes.
Talking about his triumph, Callum, representing Brechin Golf Club at the tournament, said: “I’ve won junior opens before, but this is the first county event I’ve won so I’m delighted about it.”
Callum, who lives in Kirriemuir and works at Brechin Golf Course, is planning to go to PGA school next October, and hopefully follow in the footsteps of his father, Brechin Golf Club pro Stephen Rennie, by becoming a professional himself.
