A local golf club is offering school-age children the chance to play for free during the school summer holidays.

Edzell Golf Club launched the scheme for their nine-hole course on June 30, the start of Angus schools’ summer holiday.

A spokesperson for the club explained: “During the school summer holidays, Edzell Golf Club is offering all school age children, whether or not they are members of the club, the opportunity to play free on the Edzell’s nine-hole West Water course.

“The only condition is that children must be accompanied by an adult.”

The offer runs until Friday, August 22, to accommodate the holidays period for both Angus and Aberdeenshire schools.

Bill Beveridge, the club’s Junior Convener, said: “Edzell is committed to encouraging junior golf. The Club has signed up to support the SGU junior initiative, ClubGolf, and this simply takes our involvement a step further.”

Anyone interested in taking part in the offer can simply turn up at the Edzell West Water facility and ask the starter what times are available. The starter can also be contacted on 01356 648291.
