Loch opens for season

LINTRATHEN Loch opened for the 2013 season on Saturday.

Three brave anglers ventured out on a very cold day and a few fish were taken on DI Five lines with dark lures, as the fish were lying very deep.

On Sunday, the opening competition was held in atrocious conditions with snow showers coming and going all day. The majority of competitors took fish with some nice ones coming to the net. Fish were taking Boobies, Damsels and green and black lures fished on DI Three or Intermediate lines.

Winners were: first prize and Lintrathen Shield: Willie Milligan (Lintrathen A.C.) with four fish for 7lbs 12ozs; second prize: Keith Prior (Brax A.C.), three for 6lbs 15ozs ; best boat - Keith Prior and Ken Forbes (Dundee Hydro A.C.) with 10lbs 5ozs; best junior - Jack Hamilton (Brechin A.C.) with 6lbs 10ozs; heaviest fish - Jack Hamilton with a rainbow at 3lbs 4ozs.
